Are your lashes thinning over time? Tired of heavy makeup applications or false lashes that never seem to be enough? Latisse is the solution to grow lashes longer, fuller and darker creating a luminous aesthetic. Open up your eyes to beauty’s best kept secret.
LATISSE® is an FDA-approved treatment to grow eyelashes for people with inadequate or not enough lashes. Great eyelashes don’t just happen overnight. That’s why it’s important to note that LATISSE® solution works gradually over time with some people beginning to see longer lashes in about four weeks, with full growth at 16 weeks.
Basically, it grows and enhances your own natural eyelashes. In clinical studies after four months of treatment, lashes were 25% longer, 106% thicker, and 18% darker. Of course, each individual patient sees unique results when using LATISSE®. The growth is gradual and takes place over time. After four months of treatment, most patients then will go into “maintenance dosage” and use LATISSE® two or three times a week.
How Does LATISSE® Work?
LATISSE® is believed to affect the growth phase of the eyelash hair cycle in two ways: first, it increases the length of the growth phase; second, it increases the total number of hairs during the growth phase.
Latisse In Depth
According to studies, Latisse lengthens, thickens and darkens eyelashes via a process similar to putting on mascera. Like the hair on your head, eyelashes sprout, grow for a while and eventually fall out. Latisse both extends the growth phase and increases the number of hairs that sprout.
Study participants experienced these results after 16 weeks:
- Eyelash length increased by 25 percent (2% for vehicle)
- Thickness and fullness increased by 106 percent (12% for vehicle)
- Eyelash darkness increased by 18 percent (3% for vehicle)
Those who do not have the health or eye problems like allergy, active infection, inflammation, conjunctivitis, decreased vision, ocular hypertension, eye trauma, glaucoma, uveitis, macular edema, pregnancy, etc. can go for latisse without any hesitation.
- The number of eye lashes is increased significantly within 6 to 8 weeks.
- They become long and thick, which eventually gives your eyes a fuller look.
- The lashes become considerably darker.
- Being a temporary solution, you can get back to your natural lashes any time just by stopping its application.
You need to use Latisse consistently at least for 8 weeks in order to notice visible changes in your eyelashes. For complete outcomes, you may have to wait as long as 12 to 16 weeks. However, the result of Latisse is temporary and you need to continue its application to retain fuller and darker lashes. Or else, you will end up returning to the previous situation.
What about eye color/pigmentation changes from LATISSE®?
Increased brown iris pigmentation has occurred when the same formulation of bimatoprost ophthalmic solution was instilled directly into the eye to treat elevated intraocular pressure/glaucoma. Remember the dose on the eyelash lid is 1/20th of the dose that goes in the eye. Iris pigmentation was not reported in clinical studies with LATISSE. As of this writing, no cases of iris pigmentation have been reported, and millions of prescriptions have been filled. The patients at risk for this occurrence are those who have hazel eyes with brown specks. The specks are what may become more brown. Allergan tells us that patients should be advised about the potential for increased brown iris pigmentation which is likely to be permanent.
The FDA has approved LATISSE treatment, and they determined that it should be available only by prescription from a physician. Although any doctor can prescribe LATISSE, some may be more familiar with this product’s benefits and risks than others.
