Causes of a crooked nose

The crooked nose can be caused from birth, trauma to the nose, an accident, or due to previous nose surgery. A crooked nose is often associated with overall facial asymmetry and difficulty breathing.

Straightening a crooked nose

Straightening a crooked nose includes repositioning the septum and the nasal bones. Once the septum is centered, any deviation of the nasal bones needs to be corrected.

Straightening a deviated Septum

The nasal bones are commonly shifted with trauma. If not treated at the time of the initial nasal fracture, the bones will heal in a crooked position. The healing process takes about 6 weeks. A procedure involving straightening a deviated septum involves cutting a bone with a fine medical-grade chisel and restructuring crooked cartilage.

Nose reshaping

Nose reshaping surgery, improves the shape, size, and symmetry of a person’s nose, bringing it into better proportion with the rest of the face. In cases of Fracture, the crooked nasal bones are mobilized into realignment.  Dr. Tadros’ patients often notice that their overall appearance has improved and they feel more confident about their appearance.

Health Insurance

Health insurance will usually provide coverage for the medically necessary correction of nasal fractures.  Dr. Tadros, M.D., F.A.C.S accepts all POS and PPO insurance plans as a non-participating provider  – including United Healthcare PPO, Aetna PPO, Cigna PPO, Blue Cross PPO, Blue Shield PPO, and many others that traditionally will provide coverage for nasal reconstruction and crooked nose surgery and medically necessary crooked nose surgery.
